Distribution of Nutritious Tiffin

On January 5th 2025, the distribution of nutritious tiffins among SHIBASH students was inaugurated in the presence of the Chairperson and executive members. A total of 334 students were present at the launch event. The ceremony was attended by the Chairperson of the Development and Education Expansion Trust, executive members, CMC members, the Secretary of the UNDC Committee, the Head Teacher of Rashid Adarsha High School, teachers from the Islamic Foundation Bangladesh, and teachers and staff of the Unnayan O Shikkha Proshar Trust. The nutritious tiffin distribution program is ongoing, and the students are very happy to receive these meals. Students now attend school regularly, and the attendance rate has increased. Guardians are also very pleased. This initiative helps partially fulfill the nutritional needs of the students.

Consequently, guardians do not have to worry as much about their children’s nutrition. Since the nutritious tiffins partially meet the students’ dietary requirements, guardians are able to save some money. Additionally, the students’ health is improving, allowing them to focus better on their studies.

File Cabinet Distribution

With the support of the SHIBASH Project, on January 5th 2025, a total of 5 file cabinets were provided, one for every two teachers across the education centers. This allows teachers to store their notebooks and other materials used in the center efficiently. This saves teachers’ time and enables them to conduct classes in a more organized manner.

School Desk Distribution

On January 5th 2025, through the SHIBASH Project’s assistance, 25 school desks were distributed, with 5 desks provided to each education center. Students can now place their books and notebooks on the desks, helping them concentrate on their studies. This also aids in improving handwriting and maintaining good posture for the students.

Notebook Distribution

With support from the SHIBASH Project, 1526 notebooks were distributed among 334 pre-primary and primary students. Both students and guardians were very happy to receive the notebooks, as guardians no longer need to worry about purchasing them. Due to current inflation, buying notebooks would have been difficult for many guardians. Under the same project (sponsorship), 1900 notebooks were distributed among 189 secondary school students and 61 SSC examinees. Additionally, 334 drawing notebooks were distributed among the 334 pre-primary and primary students.

Students use the drawing notebooks every Thursday to practice drawing, and they are becoming quite skilled at it.

School Shoe Distribution

Through the SHIBASH Project, 49 pairs of school shoes were distributed among 49 sixth-grade students.

School Dress Distribution

Assistance from the SHIBASH Project enabled the distribution of 67 sets of school dresses among 67 students in the sixth and ninth grades.

Electric Water Filter Installation

On January 19th 2025, with the help of the SHIBASH Project, 5 electric water filters were installed, one in each education center. Now, students can drink safe water after having their nutritious tiffins. Water is a vital component for the human body, and pure water is synonymous with life. Drinking safe water keeps the students healthy. As a result, students attend school regularly and can concentrate better on their studies.

CCTV Camera Installation

Five CCTV cameras have been installed across the five centers. This has made monitoring classes easier. It’s simple to check if students are studying properly. Monitoring teachers’ presence, their adherence to teaching aids for class management, involvement in co-curricular activities, and the proper use of classroom equipment has become more convenient. Furthermore, investigating the cause of any accidents within the centers will be easier.

Pen Distribution

Through the SHIBASH Project’s sponsorship, 1634 pens were distributed among 189 secondary school students and 61 SSC examinees.

Women's Day

International Women’s Day was celebrated on March 8th 2025. The significance of the day and the contributions of women were discussed in meetings with guardians and teachers. Whether as mothers, sisters, wives, or daughters, women perform their roles meticulously. Women play a significant role in our families, society, and country. These female teachers educate students with motherly affection and utmost care.

Independence Day

The significance and importance of Independence Day in our national life are immense. This day brings a bittersweet feeling of joy, sorrow, and pride to every Bangladeshi’s life. On one hand, there is the pain of loss, and on the other, the joy of freedom. However, ultimately, the overwhelming joy of achieving independence surpasses everything else for every Bengali. This glorious day arrives each year carrying messages of self-sacrifice, self-identity, and unity. It also reminds us of our duties and responsibilities. The importance and significance of Independence Day were discussed with the students, and the day was observed with due dignity and importance. A drawing competition was held for pre-primary, first, and second-grade students, while an essay competition was organized for third and fourth-grade students.

Awareness Seminar on Child Rights and Labor​

The Unnayan O Shikkha Proshar Trust (USPT) organized a seminar on April 14, 2023, to raise awareness among parents about child rights and child labor. The Program Specialist of the Unnayan O Shikkha Proshar Trust (USPT) discussed the harmful effects of child labor and emphasized the importance of protecting child rights. The Specialist also discouraged children from engaging in employment, as working at a young age can disrupt their education and normal development.

The Honorable Secretary of Ward No. 2 Councilor, the President of the UNDC Committee, local elites, teachers from other NGO schools, and staff members of the Unnayan O Shikkha Proshar Trust (USPT) were present at the seminar. A total of 55 parents attended the event.

Awareness Seminar on Child Marriage, Dowry, and Gender Discrimination for Adolescent Girls and Their Guardians

An awareness seminar on “Child Marriage, Dowry, and Gender Discrimination” was held at Alhaj Abbas Uddin High School on 10 June 2023. The meeting was moderated by USPT Chairperson Nishat Jahan Rana. Around 80 students, guardians, and CMC members attended the meeting. Participants gained an understanding of the ill effects of child marriage, dowry, gender discrimination, and related issues through this seminar.

Health Checkup of Children and Health Awareness Program

On 15 August 2023, USPT organized a health check-up campaign for children and provided health care and awareness education to the pre-primary class students at Ghasful Shishu Bandhab Shiksha Kendra, located in Anis Mia Slum, Avenue 5, Mirpur 11. A group of young trainee doctors from E Doctors participated in the discussions and provided healthcare services to the children. Seventy children attended the campaign. Each student received a toothbrush and toothpaste. Additionally, some children were provided with medical support. For example:

• Tanisha Akhter, a student of Kashful Shishu Bandhab Shiksha Kendra, New Kurmitola Bihari Camp, was given 6,500 taka.

• Mohammad Hossain, a student of Golap Shishu Bandhab Shiksha Kendra, Tekerbari, was given 3,000 taka as emergency medical assistance. Since Hossain’s treatment was expensive, USPT teacher Sithi arranged for his treatment with the help of her doctor friend. Hossain is now very healthy after receiving the treatment. Similarly, Tanisha has recovered well and is attending school regularly.

Raising Awareness About Dengue Fever and Aedes Mosquitoes

To raise awareness about dengue fever and promote cleanliness in the working areas of Unnayan O Shikkha Proshar Trust (USPT), rallies were organized with the participation of students, teachers, parents, and office staff. Bleaching powder was sprinkled around drains and centers, and aerosols were distributed to students for their safety in the centers.

Awareness activities on dengue fever and Aedes mosquitoes were conducted on 21 August at Anis Mia Slum, 23 August at Bihari Camp, and 21 September at Madbar Nagar. A total of 270 people participated in the program.

World Children's Day

This day is celebrated to protect the rights of children. Every year, it is observed worldwide on 20 November. Children are the future of the world. Therefore, parental care, education, and health are among their basic rights. However, for various reasons, not all children have access to these opportunities. Many drop out of school at a very young age, and the dropout rate has increased significantly after COVID. World Children’s Day serves as a reminder of these basic rights. The Unnayan O Shikkha Proshar Trust marks the day by engaging in discussions with students, teachers, and parents.

Victory Day

On 16 December 2023, Victory Day was celebrated in all the educational centers of the Unnayan O Shikkha Proshar Trust. On this day, an essay writing competition was held among the students on the topic of Victory Day and a drawing competition was held as well. Then, Tiffin boxes and geometry boxes were distributed among the students. 289 students participated in the Victory Day.

International Mother Language Day

On 21 February 2023, International Mother Language Day was celebrated in all the educational centers of the Unnayan O Shikkha Proshar Trust. Flowers were placed at the Shaheed Minar to pay tribute to the martyrs, and rallies were organized with the participation of students, teachers, parents, and office staff. A total of 220 students took part in the rallies.

Women's Day

International Women’s Day was celebrated on 8 March 2023 with the participation of all the teachers of USPT. Mr. Keramat Ali, an honorable member of the General Body of USPT, was present at the event. He discussed the significance of Women’s Day, focusing on topics such as gender inequality and achieving equality. Women teachers and workers were later greeted with flowers.

Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of USPT was successfully held on 29 June 2023 at Grace House, Mirpur 10. The meeting was attended by 14 esteemed members. Chairperson Ms. Nishat Jahan Rana welcomed everyone and conducted the meeting, as the members present constituted a quorum as per the organization’s constitution.

Assistant Commissioner Visited USPT Office

On 4 July 2023, Ms. Babli Shabnam, Assistant Commissioner of the Dhaka Deputy Commissioner’s Office, visited the office of Unnayan O Shikkha Proshar Trust at Mirpur 10 to observe the organization’s activities. After the visit, she expressed satisfaction and arranged for the issuance of a certificate for the implementation of foreign grant projects.
